About me –

I moved to the United States at 18, completely on my own. No roadmap, no community, no guarantee that any of it would work out. What I had was a deep belief that this was the place where you could build the life you wanted — if you were willing to do the work.

The early years were humbling. I hustled through hospitality and marketing, navigated a new country by myself, and figured out what I was actually made of. Photography had been part of my life since high school — I loved how it allowed me to observe people and document real life in a way that felt completely natural. Not a hobby. Just how I saw.

Weddings came later. My first one was in 2017 and something about that day stayed with me — the combination of emotion, structure, and meaning, the way an entire story could unfold in a single day. What followed was years of building slowly, intentionally, entirely on my own terms. No shortcuts. Just an honest investment in the craft and a growing belief that this was exactly the work I was supposed to be doing.

Above everything else — I love being there. Watching someone's most important day unfold in front of me never gets old. That excitement is what drives the intentionality I bring to documenting it — every moment matters because I genuinely believe it does.

If you've found your way here after a long search, I hope something about this feels different. I'm not the right fit for everyone — but when it's the right fit, you'll know it from the very first conversation.

I'd love to hear about your day.

Today I run Nika Libres Photography from San Diego, where I live with my husband Essam — my favorite person and my most enthusiastic supporter — and Tuna, our cat, whose affection I have been unsuccessfully attempting to earn for six years running.

Essam and I share a love for travel that shows up in everything we do — whether it's a camping trip a few hours away or a boutique hotel on the other side of the world. That same curiosity and appetite for experience is something I bring to every wedding I photograph, wherever in the world it takes me.
